Elks snap 6 game losing streak
The Brookfield Elks snapped their six game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Windsor Oxen in Windsor Friday night at the John Paris Jr. Rink.

The Elks would not have been able to do it without the outstanding goaltending of a recent trade acquisition from the Sackville Blazers Logan Wallace who turned away 55 of 58 shots in the Brookfield nets.  The Elks managed 25 on Oxen goaltender Ryan Leblanc but beat him four times.

Despite the 58 shots taken by the Oxen, a number of them were from a distance and Windsor could not even score on a 5 on 3 advantage.  They came so close when  they began applying pressure in the final eight minutes of the second but to no avail.  The Oxen outshot Brookfield 19-8, 20-9 and 19-8 in the first, second and third periods.  David McElhern scored the lone Elks goal in the opening period while Matthew Shields and William Hartnell scored for Windsor.  The only goal of the second period came on two on none break as the Oxen defence were caught asleep at the Elks blue line and Hayden Doiron and Brodie Ellis broke in alone  and scored with less than five minutes having been played in the second.  It stayed 2-2 until Brodie Ellis scored on the power-play early in the third before Jacob Gerhardt tied the game again, this time at 3-3 with 8:36 remaining in regulation.  Cale McClellan scored the game winner with 2:36 showing on the clock.

Aidan MacLeod and Cam Walsh both collected a pair of assists for Windsor.  The Oxen left Windsor for a five hour trip to Membertou and a game with the Jr. Miners at 7:30 Saturday night while the Oxen will again in Sackville Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
