Oxen now 0-0-2...Blazers score 4 in third to defeat Colts

The Windsor Oxen are geared to bring winning hockey back to the "Birthplace of Hockey" in 25-26.  To date, they have been so close only to lose their opener in a shoot-out and Friday night's game in East Hants in overtime.

Micah Tucker put the Oxen up 1-0 early on a short-handed effort before Alex Field tied it for the Penguins in the opening period.  In the second, Cam Wash put the Oxen back up 2-1 before Aiden Nicholson tied it again for the Pens.  Then with only 55 seconds to lay in the middle period, Noah Comeau tallied to give East Hants a 3-2 lead going to the dressing room after forty minutes.

In the third period, Nolan Fowler tied the game for Windsor at 3-3 and that is the way regulation play ended.  In the five-minute sudden death period, Aiden Nicholson rifled his second goal of the game with 3:08 to play to give East Hants the 4-3 win in overtime.  Payso Stewart stopped 28 of 31 shots in the Penguins net while Graydon Mole played very steady for the Oxen stopping 40 of 44 shots.

Sackville   6     Capstone Colts   3

It was a close encounter through forty minutes with the Blazers leading 2-1 but a four-goal third did the defending provincial champions in as the blazers skated to 6-3 win.  Tyler Curnew scored a pair of goals 18 seconds apart in the opening six minutes of the third to put Sackville up 4-1.  This was after Xavier Rivard had given the Blazers a 1-0 lead after one while Will Meek put the Blazers up 2-1 after Jack Dulong tied it for the Colts in the second.

The it was Curnew's show to start the third, he also collected an assist in the game before Connor MacPhee and Finn Merritt brought the Colts back to within a goal at 4-3.  Aiden Tucker then put the lights out for the Colts with an empty-netter with 1:19 to play before scoring again only 21 seconds later to mak the final 6-3.
